According to a report by Sanli News Network on June 15, 2024, many Chinese characters used in Japanese have different meanings in Chinese, causing confusion. For instance, a bus in Nagasaki had a route sign saying '上床' which means 'go to bed' in Chinese, but in Japanese, it's a place name pronounced 'Uwatoko'. Similarly, '金玉' meaning 'gold and jade' is often used by jewelry stores in Taiwan, but in Japan, it means testicles. Such linguistic differences can lead to humorous misunderstandings between Taiwanese and Japanese visitors.
