In response to the serious impact of earthquakes on Hualien tourism in 2024, the 'Japanese Residents Support Hualien Group' composed of Japanese residents in Taiwan visited Hualien to support the tourism industry. With approximately 40 participants, including Japanese residents in Taipei and some Taiwanese, the group engaged in various activities to express care for Taiwan and support for Hualien. They shared their itinerary on social media to encourage more Japanese tourists to visit Hualien. Activities included whale-watching, experiencing Aboriginal activities, and visiting historical buildings from the Japanese colonial era in Hualien.
