Reported about 1 year ago

On July 5, the Japanese Ministry of Defense's Joint Staff Office reported that 4 Russian and Chinese ships were observed passing through the Osumi Strait in southern Kyushu towards the Pacific Ocean on July 4 and 5. Japan has heightened surveillance to ensure regional security and stability. The ships included a Russian Dubna Class replenishment ship, a Chinese 054A missile frigate, a Chinese 052D missile destroyer, and a Russian patrol guard ship. The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force continuously monitored their passage through the strait with the escort ship 'JMSDF Sendai (DE-230)' and a P-1 maritime patrol aircraft. The Japanese Defense Minister Noboru Kihara emphasized the need to monitor and strengthen vigilance over Russian and Chinese military activities as they aim to exert pressure on regional countries through various joint exercises and displays.
