In Japan, the traditional image of the corporate workplace as 'conservative', 'strict', and 'inflexible' is gradually changing as the new Z-generation workforce comes into play. Fresh social newcomers find the old-fashioned rules of suit-wearing, staying late after work, and socializing with colleagues over drinks to be challenging. The generation gap in workplace attitudes is evident as younger employees resist traditional practices like answering phones and using polite language, causing confusion among senior staff. The younger workforce's inclination to leave the office promptly at the end of the day and their differing views on post-work social drinking further highlight the evolving work values that are impacting the older generation.
