Reported 8 months ago

The criminal investigation squad of New Taipei and Zhonghe Police Precinct recently arrested the owner of a jewelry store, Mr. Tsai, suspected of involvement in a fraudulent investment scheme. After monitoring the money flow connected to a fake investment scam, the authorities found the funds circulating through a jewelry store in northern Taiwan. During a coordinated search operation in New Taipei and Taipei City, they detained Mr. Tsai and three other suspects, confiscating cash amounting to 800,000 New Taiwan Dollars, 1 kilogram of gold jewelry, 7 mobile phones, and 10 silver bars worth nearly 300,000 NT dollars. The case involves charges of fraud, money laundering, and organized crime, and has been transferred to the local prosecutor's office for further investigation. The jewelry store owner, 42, allegedly aided the fraud group in converting victims' money into virtual currency USDT, creating a money flow break point to profit from the price difference. The store, along with its jewelry and silver blocks, was seized by the authorities. The New Taipei City Anti-Fraud Office advises the public to be cautious in selecting legitimate investment channels, verify thoroughly before investing, and be aware of government-regulated and certified investment options to avoid falling into traps set by fraudulent groups.
