Jiufen Taxi Operators Overcharging and New Taipei City Transportation Bureau Responds

Reported about 1 year ago

Jiufen, known for its mountain views, unique history, and delicious food, has become a popular tourist destination. However, tourists have complained about the local transportation, with reports of taxi drivers ignoring the government's fixed fare of 220 NTD and overcharging by 50 NTD per person under the pretext of 'higher fuel consumption'. The New Taipei City Transportation Bureau has advised people to request receipts or record video evidence to report any incidents of taxi drivers overcharging, and violators could face fines ranging from 9,000 to 90,000 NTD under the Highway Act.
