Job openings decline to lowest point since February 2021

Reported 6 months ago

Job openings fell in April to the lowest level since February 2021, indicating a cooling off in the labor market following the hiring surge post-pandemic reopening. New data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed 8.06 million open jobs in April, down from March's 8.35 million, with economists projecting 8.35 million in April. The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) also reported 5.6 million hires in April, with a steady 3.6% hiring rate. The report suggests slower hiring ahead, but positive net job growth as layoffs remain low.
