Competitive eater Joey Chestnut devoured 57 hot dogs and buns in a five-minute exhibition at Fort Bliss Army base in El Paso, Texas, falling one short of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest winner's total of 58. Chestnut was banned from the Coney Island contest this year due to endorsing Impossible Foods' plant-based hot dog. Despite the ban, he showcased his competitive spirit and engaged with fans through a livestream of the exhibition.
