Joey Wendle has been released by the New York Mets just five days after being designated for assignment, making him a free agent. The 34-year-old infielder signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Mets during the offseason but struggled both offensively and defensively, leading to his release. Wendle has now signed with the Atlanta Braves on a big league deal after his short stint with the Mets.
