John Deere, the world’s largest seller of tractors and crop harvesters, recently announced layoffs for approximately 610 production staff in Illinois and Iowa. The company is cutting around 280 workers in East Moline, Illinois, 230 in Davenport, Iowa, and 100 in Dubuque, Iowa, effective from August 30. The decision was made due to reduced demand for their products in those factories, with employees offered benefits like Supplemental Unemployment Benefit (SUB), profit-sharing, and health benefits. This move comes after Deere revealed plans to move manufacturing to Mexico, optimizing factories and addressing rising costs.
