Judge acquits defendants in Panama Papers case

Reported 12 months ago

A judge in Panama has acquitted 28 people accused in the Panama Papers case, including the co-founder of Mossack & Fonseca, a law firm involved in money laundering. The judge ruled that the evidence did not comply with the chain of custody and was not sufficient to determine criminal responsibility. The case was linked to the car wash corruption scandal involving Odebrecht, with the judge lifting all personal and property precautions against the defendants.
