In a high-profile embezzlement case, Lee Hsueh-chin, dubbed the 'ghostly accountant,' was found guilty of stealing NT$90 million from the Taipei Lawyer's Association over more than a decade. After serving a seven-year prison sentence for a previous charge, she faces additional compensation claims amounting to NT$29.72 million. During court proceedings, she expressed remorse but continues to contest certain claims, arguing that accounting discrepancies may exist. The court has ruled in favor of the association's requests, but Lee has yet to provide a clear repayment plan or explanation for the missing funds.
