A portrait of Emperor Kangxi, painted by an Italian artist in the 18th century, is considered the most accurate portrait of the emperor. Displayed at an art exhibition in Shanghai, this portrait is praised for its high fidelity to Kangxi's actual appearance, showing him wearing a red pearl cap and blue robe with dragon motifs. This painting, completed by Giovanni Gheradini, also known as Nie Yunlong, utilizes Western realistic painting techniques and perspective to bring Kangxi's true likeness to life, providing a different perspective compared to traditional historical textbook depictions.
