Kansas City educator James Hogue, inspired by his wife's difficult pregnancy, became a doula to educate expectant fathers on supporting their partners during childbirth. Through his nonprofit organization Fathers Assisting Mothers (FAM), Hogue aims to reduce maternal mortality rates and disparities faced by Black women by training fathers to be informed advocates during childbirth. Hogue's mission is to empower dads to take an active role in the birthing process and postpartum care, providing education and support through programs like 'The Dad Doula Bootcamp' and DadPrep Academy.
