Kaohsiung Millennium Festival Criticized as 'Four Unlikeness', Locals Call for 'Rebranding'

Reported about 1 year ago

Last year, Kaohsiung City government spent 8.4 million NTD on the Millennium Festival, which was criticized for lacking local cultural characteristics, spending money on female group performances, and being perceived as 'non-localized' and 'four unlikeness'. In response, the city government plans to host the event in October this year, with local representatives and residents calling for a 'rebranding' to focus on promoting the city's old settlement culture instead of organizing activities that deviate from the local culture. The event organizers are considering incorporating more local cultural elements and ensuring that the Millennium Festival truly represents the unique characteristics of Kaohsiung.
