During the review of the New Residents Basic Law Draft at the Internal Affairs Committee of the Legislative Yuan on June 12, lawmakers including DPP caucus whip Ke Chien-ming and members from other parties gathered for discussions. Ke Chien-ming, who was previously reported for smoking in the Premier's resting room, was caught smoking near the meeting room entrance during a parliamentary negotiation on the 13th, and Taipei City Councilor Liu Tsai-wei has reported this to the Taipei City Health Bureau. Despite being previously reported and pending investigation, Ke Chien-ming was caught smoking indoors again. The Taipei City Health Bureau received the latest report and footage, and discussions are ongoing regarding potential penalties under the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act.
