On July 1, 2024, at 4:13 am, a woman's bag caught fire and emitted smoke, shocking bystanders. The incident occurred at a Kaohsiung MRT station around noon when a woman's bag started to emit smoke and burnt with a charred smell, eventually turning into a fireball. It was quickly extinguished by station staff upon discovery that the cause was a power bank self-ignition. Fortunately, there were no injuries or equipment damage reported, but passengers were reminded to manage electronic devices properly to ensure safety while traveling.
