Reported 10 months ago
On June 10, 2024, at 11:35 pm, a 'blazing fire pillar' erupted at the Kaohsiung Oil Refinery, causing incomplete combustion and emitting black smoke due to a malfunction in the light oil cracking process compressor (C-1201). The Environmental Protection Bureau may impose a fine of up to 5 million for violating the Air Pollution Control Act. The situation was resolved after the compressor was restarted at 10:20 am, stopping the smoke emission.
