In response to the talent competition in transforming Kaohsiung, a large screw factory is investing heavily in building employee housing to retain technical talents. They even plan to offer employees who have worked for 15 years a free house. The factory plans to use a 1500-square-foot industrial land opposite the Kaohsiung MRT Red Line Gangshan Agricultural and Industrial Station to construct housing, currently under review by the Ministry of the Interior. Kaohsiung City Government is encouraging developers to build housing while simultaneously donating social housing, offering up to 50% bonus floor area ratio. The Kaohsiung MRT Red Line extension continues northward, with a station planned on the industrial land across from Gangshan Agricultural and Industrial Road, potentially to be used for the construction of employee dormitories and social housing by the screw factory. The City's Department of Urban Development confirmed the encouragement for enterprises to build employee dormitories by amending urban planning regulations and providing bonus floor area ratio, assisting in central government approval. The proposal focuses on the screw factory in Gangshan, planning to rezone the 1500-square-foot industrial land as residential area, building employee dormitories. Employees who move in only need to pay for utilities, and some proportion of the houses will be donated as social housing, currently under review by the Ministry of the Interior. Citizens are optimistic about the prospect of the local screw factory building employee dormitories, aligning with the influx of high-tech industries in the city, for which the Kaohsiung City Government is also preparing. Mayor of Kaohsiung, Chen Chi-mai, stated that the government will assist in resolving employment, living, and educational issues for enterprises. To attract talent to move to Kaohsiung, the City Government emphasizes that the current living conditions are satisfactory, and they will provide guidance and assistance based on the needs of various industries.
