On June 21st, there was a riot at Kaohsiung Women's Prison involving 4 inmates related to fraud and money laundering who refused to move rooms after being transferred from the north, causing a disturbance by blocking others from changing rooms and banging on bowls. Guards used pepper spray to subdue the inmates. The inmates later complained about the handling by authorities, accusing them of violence, suppression, and inappropriate conduct, but the prison clarified that there was no nudity involved and no physical suppression. The reason for the disturbance is still under investigation with any consequences pending.
