On June 18, 2024, the police at Baifu Police Station of Keelung City Third Police Substation, including officer Lu Mengxun, deputy director Jiang Zhenrong, officers You Wei and Gao Chengjun, responded to a flooded underpass in Qidu District due to heavy rainfall, where a driver surnamed Huang mistakenly drove into the flooded area causing engine failure but fortunately no casualties. Police immediately blocked off the area, conducted traffic control, and directed vehicles to alternative routes, while also coordinating with city authorities for water pumping operations. Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang personally supervised the situation. After towing away stranded vehicles and pumping out the water, the road was reopened smoothly before the evening rush hour. The police chief reminded drivers to be cautious during heavy rains and report any incidents promptly for assistance.
