Reported about 1 year ago
A Keelung fishing boat, named 'Harbor Fortune Ocean 266,' suspected of operating outside the 'Taiwan-Japan interim enforcement line,' was intercepted by a Japanese official vessel, and its two Taiwanese crew members along with six Indonesian crew members were taken to Japan for investigation. The Japanese authorities agreed to release them upon paying a fine of around 1.21 million NTD, but the boat and crew will not return directly to Taiwan after the fine is settled. Due to the fishing season and the hefty fine amount, they plan to continue operations at sea and are expected to return to Keelung after July 16. The incident is being handled by the Fisheries Agency in Taiwan and the Japanese authorities.
