The Taiwanese fishing boat 'Fuyang No. 266' was intercepted by a Japanese Fisheries Agency patrol vessel in the waters near Amami Oshima, reportedly for violating local fishing regulations. Two Taiwanese crew members were taken aboard the Japanese vessel for investigation. The Japanese side agreed to release the crew members once the boat owner pays a fine of 6,600,000 yen (approximately NT$1.21 million). The incident is being handled by the Fisheries Agency in coordination with the Japanese authorities, with the Taiwanese government providing diplomatic assistance.
