On July 5th, the Keelung-based fishing vessel 'Fuyang No. 266' was inspected by a Japanese patrol vessel in international waters near Amami-Oshima Island. The Taiwanese captain and chief engineer were taken for questioning, while the rest of the crew, consisting of 6 Indonesian nationals, remained on board. The case is being handled by the Fisheries Agency in coordination with Japanese authorities, amid recent tensions after the detention of another Taiwanese fishing vessel in Penghu. Maritime Police has dispatched a vessel for further investigation and assistance.
