After a week of anti-tax increase protests in Kenya, the government finally relented under pressure, with President Ruto initially ordering the military to suppress protesters, resulting in at least 23 deaths. However, he later reversed course and decided to cancel the tax increase bill. Despite this, protesters are still calling for the President to resign, with a majority being Gen Z youth disillusioned by rising costs of living, government corruption, and excessive policing. The protests have escalated with demands for better governance and accountability.
