Kia has issued a warning to nearly 463,000 Telluride SUV owners in the US, advising them to park their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings due to a risk of front seat fires caused by defective motors in the seat controls. The recall covers Telluride models manufactured from 2020 to 2024, with incidents of smoke and malfunctioning seats reported by owners since 2022, leading to possible overheating and fires. Kia will begin notifying owners in late July to bring their SUVs to dealers for free repairs and installation of new parts to prevent motor failures and fires.
