A consortium led by U.S. investment firm KKR and Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) is reportedly the frontrunner in discussions to acquire a $1 billion minority stake in ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), one of Asia's largest data center providers. The potential investment, which could amount to up to 20% of STT GDC, highlights the increasing interest and demand for data centers in the Asia Pacific region, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence. The deal, competing with New York-based Stonepeak, may be finalized or announced in early June, as per sources familiar with the matter.
