On June 12, 2024, the People First Party chairman, Ko Wen-je, responded to criticism from the DPP regarding the KMT and DPP coalition's proposed amendment to the 'Financial Planning Law.' The DPP accused the opposition of planning to divide resources by removing child subsidies and rent subsidies through the amendment. Ko Wen-je, in return, questioned the inconsistency in the government's stance, pointing out how they previously distributed $6000 per citizen claiming the state was wealthy, but now claim there's no money for amendments. Ko Wen-je expressed discontent at the sudden change in position during a party meeting later in the day.
