KMT and DPP in Dispute Over Constitutional Interpretation Window Period and Investigation of Malpractice Cases

Reported 8 months ago

After the Legislative Yuan rejected the reconsideration of the Parliament's empowerment law, the government and DPP split into three paths to propose constitutional interpretation and temporary measures. However, KMT Chairman Eric Chu and People's Party Legislative Yuan caucus convener Huang Kuo-chang threatened to initiate a 'parliamentary hearing' investigation of the DPP's malpractices during the constitutional interpretation window period. In response, DPP members criticized this as setting up a private judicial tribunal, as investigations have not found any misconduct so far. The DPP plans to apply for temporary measures in addition to proposing constitutional interpretation to counter the KMT's moves. The article deals with the ongoing dispute between the two major political parties in Taiwan regarding the investigation of alleged malpractice cases by the opposition party during a constitutional interpretation 'window period.'
