According to Taiwan's Liberty Times, on June 21, 2024, the KMT and PFP used their numerical advantage to reject the Executive Yuan's reconsideration of amendment bills related to the exercise of legislative powers and parts of the criminal law. In response, DPP legislative caucus convener Ko Chien-ming stated that they will quickly propose constitutional amendments. Ko criticized KMT and PFP for manipulating surveys, causing a collapse in public opinion that could overwhelm the two parties. He emphasized the need for constitutional review in the face of attempts to expand legislative power, and expressed confidence in the Constitutional Court's judgment. Ko warned that today marked the beginning of a disgraceful historical episode and called for public condemnation of attempts to undermine democracy and expand power. He believed in the wisdom of the Taiwanese people to reject such actions and ensure victory for the country in the end.
