KMT legislator Chen Jinghui lost her voice unexpectedly during a general inquiry session on June 18. After unsuccessful treatments, she sought help from technology legislator Ge Ru-jun to create an AI-generated voice dubbed 'AI Jing Jing' based on her voice recordings for assistance in questioning Minister Cho Rong-tae. This marked the first time in parliament that AI was used to aid a legislator in an inquiry. Chen disclosed the AI technology allowed her to continue her inquiry on pressing issues such as national security amid a declining birth rate, healthcare system challenges, and educational issues. The collaboration garnered support for the use of AI in political engagements and public services for more inclusive participation and efficient communication.
