DPP legislative caucus chief Ko Chien-Ming was caught smoking indoors in the Legislative Yuan and appeared on the legislative broadcast. Taipei City Health Bureau received a report from Councilor Liu Tsai-wei, requesting Ko's explanation, but as of June 27, no response was received. The Health Bureau decided to issue a 2,000 NTD fine for violating the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act. Taipei City Councilor Chan Wei-yuan remarked that irrespective of the fine amount, the purpose is to set a good example and discourage indoor smoking, emphasizing that all politicians should self-discipline and not break the law, even if addicted to smoking.
