Reported 12 months ago
KMT legislator and DPP caucus convener Ko Chien-ming was caught smoking in the parliament on June 13 and was reported to the Taipei City Health Bureau by fellow legislators. Despite being asked to explain, Ko did not respond until June 27. Consequently, the Health Bureau fined him NT$2,000 for violating the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act, as it was confirmed he smoked in a non-smoking area. This was the minimum fine, and further violations may lead to increased penalties according to regulations.
