In a recent legislative session, KMT legislator Ong Hsiao-ling, known for her provocative statements, questioned Defense Minister Gou Li-hsiung on why Taiwan does not adopt a policy of counterattacking the mainland. Ong displayed a map including Outer Mongolia, asking Gou to confirm it as part of the Republic of China's territory and suggesting his lack of a counterattack policy is a personal opinion. Ong abruptly left as Gou was responding, emphasizing not recognizing the People's Republic of China before a constitutional referendum.
