Economic Affairs Minister Guo Zhuhui's statement in the Legislative Yuan Economic Committee that if passed, the law can extend the operation of Nuclear Plant 2 and 3 by 20-30 years has sparked controversy. KMT Legislator Ke Chien appealed for DPP's Committee on Education and Culture Chair Lin Yi-chin to review related proposals. In response, Lin pointed out problems with previous KMT proposals and criticized that pushing for nuclear power plant extensions does not mean it is without problems. She highlighted the concerns for residents near the plants in Pingtung and the poor quality of the current proposed legislation. Lin emphasized that if KMT persists, she will oppose the nuclear power plant extension legislation and urged them to exit the political arena if they are eager to end their political life, rather than resorting to undermining Taiwan.
