On June 29, 2024, Legislative Yuan's Internal Affairs Committee scheduled a public hearing on the practical status of the Recall Election Law to be held on July 3. In response to the Kuomintang's intention to propose raising the recall threshold, KMT Chairman Eric Chu questioned the reasonableness of recalling a candidate who got 10,000 votes with just 6,000 votes. KMT caucus secretary-general Hong Meng-Kai stated that discussions and public hearings next week aim to gather opinions from the public. The discussions will address amendments to the Recall Election Law, seeking to understand various perspectives before making decisions.
