The Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman, Eric Chu, announced plans to push for the passing of the 'Nuclear Energy Extension Amendment Act' by as early as July 8th, with the Education and Culture Committee set to review the case. In response, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Ker Chien-ming emphasized the need for consensus in the Legislative Yuan for the law to pass, urging the KMT to consider the feasibility of the proposed measures. The issue of extending the operation of nuclear power plants is a topic both parties must address in Taiwan, especially as the country faces challenges of power shortages and safety concerns in the upcoming hot summer months.
