KMT Pushing Amendment to Recall Law: DPP Warns of Self-Destruction

Reported 12 months ago

During a press conference titled 'Amend Election and Recall Laws, National Party Risks Destruction,' DPP Legislative Yuan caucus convener Ko Chien-ming criticized the KMT's proposed amendment to raise the recall threshold as damaging to the Constitution and predicted the KMT's downfall. Ko urged the KMT to reconsider its approach to reflect public opinion rather than pursuing amendments that could lead to disaster, specifically suggesting incumbent Keelung City Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang as a potential victim. He warned that the KMT's actions would not only harm itself but also place Taiwan at risk of becoming like Hong Kong, aligning with the Chinese Communist Party, which Taiwanese citizens would not tolerate.
