After the Legislative Yuan passed amendments to the Legislation Exercise Act and certain articles of the Criminal Code, the Presidential Office, Executive Yuan, Control Yuan, and DPP Legislative Yuan caucus have all filed constitutional interpretations. Consequently, the KMT and People First Party have seen over 50% disapproval in a poll. Recently, the KMT aims to amend the Recall Law to raise the recall threshold. Executive Yuan Chief Su Tseng-chang emphasized that the people would not accept any branch of government expanding its power while in office. Su stated that any power expansion, including increasing authority, extending terms, or securing rights, not granted by voters at the time of election, would be viewed unfavorably. Su urged lawmakers to respect boundaries, emphasizing that existing laws represent the contract between current voters and representatives, which should not be violated.
