During a legislative session on June 25, KMT lawmaker Lai Shyh-bao raised concerns about the delay in appointing the chief executive of the Taiwan Democracy Foundation, accusing the DPP of meddling. Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu clarified that the appointment issue was decided by the board of directors, with legislative speaker Han Kuo-yu responsible for nominations. Lai threatened to block the foundation's budget of less than 2 billion NT dollars in the upcoming session, alleging international concern over the appointment delay. The situation escalated as the KMT continued to challenge the DPP's involvement, highlighting a lack of progress in the appointment process.
