Ko Calls for Solution to Vicious Cycle between Cross-Strait Relations as Taiwan Raises Travel Alert Level to 'Orange'

Reported 9 months ago

During an election period, the People's Party set a 'two-year clause' for non-constituency legislators, planning to replace all current legislators in 2026, sparking internal debate on whether this promise will be broken. Chairman Ko Wen-je emphasized the importance of following the rules, and urged for dialogue between the authorities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to break the vicious cycle. Recently, Taiwan raised its travel alert level to 'orange' in response to China's 'Anti-Separation 22 Measures,' advising against non-essential travel to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The party also faced controversy regarding the alleged misuse of personal information for summer camp invitations, which the party's spokesperson clarified as information collected from party members and event participants.
