In response to the Kuomintang Legislative Yuan caucus planning to raise the recall threshold next week, the Taiwan People's Party chairman, Ko Wen-je, stated on June 30 that he does not support changing the recall threshold but believes the petition process should be more stringent. Wu Si-yao, the DPP Legislative Yuan caucus chief secretary, criticized Ko's remarks as a way to make it more difficult for people to initiate recalls, essentially depriving them of the right to recall.
