In response to the Kuomintang Legislative Yuan caucus planning to raise the recall threshold next week, the Taiwan People's Party chairman, Ko Wen-je, stated on June 30 that he does not support changing the recall threshold but believes the petition process should be more stringent. Wu Si-yao, the DPP Legislative Yuan caucus chief secretary, criticized Ko's remarks as a way to make it more difficult for people to initiate recalls, essentially depriving them of the right to recall. The legislative review of the recall law will be crucial, with the People's Party's stance being the key factor.
