The Chairman of the People First Party, Ko Wen-je, accused President Tsai Ing-wen of betrayal and violating the constitution by requesting for a constitutional interpretation and temporary dismissal of parliament's powers. In response, the Presidential Office spokesperson, Kuo Ya-hui, stated that Ko Wen-je and the People First Party's deliberate confusion between the national address and questioning sessions is regrettable and misleading. Tsai's office emphasized the legality and constitutionality of going to the parliament for a national address and criticized Ko Wen-je for insulting Taiwanese democracy by comparing the President's actions to Nazi practices.
