Reported about 1 year ago

On July 9, 2024, Central News Agency reported that during the review of the amendment of the 'Recall Act' by the Internal Affairs Committee of the Legislative Yuan, there was intense physical conflict between the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Kuomintang. Chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party Ko Wen-je criticized the DPP for not cherishing the opportunity of governance and intentionally creating conflicts with opposition parties, questioning President Lai Ching-te if this is the 'right path' they aspire to. Ko expressed concerns over the DPP's deliberate cultivation of opposition and deepening of partisan confrontations since taking office on May 20th. He highlighted the recent corruption allegations against Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan and a shooting incident in Tainan, stating that such situations do not reflect the democratic model they hope for. Ko urged party members to stay out of violent conflicts between the political factions and emphasized the importance of stability and constructive governance.
