Korean Air has officially completed its takeover of Asiana Airlines for 1.8 trillion won ($1.3 billion), forming one of Asia's largest airlines. The merger, which faced numerous regulatory challenges, gives Korean Air a majority stake in Asiana and is set to enhance its international capacity. Asiana will operate as a subsidiary for up to two years before merging fully with Korean Air, which plans to maintain employment levels through staff reassignment. The consolidation aims to bolster South Korea's Incheon International Airport's status in the region.
