On June 22, Korean Air flight KE-189, carrying 125 passengers from Incheon Airport to Taichung, experienced a rapid descent over Jeju Island causing oxygen masks to drop. The plane returned to Incheon, with passengers sharing their harrowing experience on social media platforms. The incident drew attention from Korean media as the B737 MAX 8 aircraft rapidly descended from over 30,000 feet to 9,000 feet due to a pressurization issue. Some passengers suffered symptoms such as nosebleeds and ear discomfort, with 13 being sent to the hospital upon landing. The majority of passengers remained calm during the mid-air crisis.
