Taiwan is about to enter an ultra-aging society, where the future development of the health and medical industry holds promise. In recent years, the number of drugstores has significantly increased, with retail sales of domestic beauty drugstores growing by 95.6% in the past decade. Pharmacies have begun transitioning to provide a variety of services beyond medicines, such as health management, medical devices, maternity and baby products, and cosmetics, adopting strategies like chain operation, diversification, and capitalizing on competition. The focus now shifts to utilizing alliance resources, consolidating, innovating, and managing judiciously. Discussions held by KPMG and the Taiwanese Assistive Devices and Long-Term Care Industry Development Association gathered industry leaders and experts to explore the shift in operational thinking in the domestic large health industry. With Taiwan's strong IoT technology, the emphasis is on integrating IoT into the healthcare industry, prompting changes towards smarter services and sales models in assistive technology. Overall, Taiwan's biotech and medical industry has shown diverse growth and a significant market presence on the OTC market, following semiconductor industries, forming a complete cluster in the OTC market.
