During a legislative session, Kuo Chien-ming, the convenor of the Democratic Progressive Party in the Legislative Yuan, accused the Taiwan People's Party of being a Chinese affiliate organization that collaborates with China in constitutional destruction and political turmoil, likening the Democratic Progressive Party to the Communist Party. This led to a response from the Taiwan People's Party's spokesperson questioning if Kuo Chien-ming had been influenced by the Chinese Communist Party, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the political parties. Additionally, the spokesperson emphasized that democratic rights and freedoms in Taiwan should not be used as a tool for intimidation or threats, as that would only worsen cross-strait relations.
