The movement to recall Keelung Mayor, Xie Guoliang, has evolved into a battle of 'tearing down and reinforcing' beam structures, with the Kuomintang initiating a counter-offensive by calling for the removal of Democratic Progressive Party Keelung City Council Speaker, Tong Ziwei. Kuomintang Chairman Eric Chu has personally visited Keelung to support Xie Guoliang, proclaiming that the DPP harms one person, so they will be treated in kind. Amidst the turmoil, New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi emphasized the need for cooperation over political confrontation for the well-being of the people, while Chu argued that the DPP's divisive tactics do not benefit the city's stability and residents' welfare.
