The Ministry of Labor in Taiwan is considering opening up the industry for 'employing foreign mid-level technical manpower' in the tourism and lodging sector to address the labor shortage issue. This proposal would allow overseas students to work as housekeepers in hotels with a monthly salary between NT$30,000 and NT$33,000, lower than the current minimum requirements for graduate employment. However, some overseas students express their desire to seek better opportunities in Taiwan rather than simply engaging in labor-intensive work.
